Sewing Conversations

2016 - Present

A social practice. For Sewing Conversations, I bring people together to sit, talk, and sew. I have gathered people together for Sewing Conversations in many contexts: At Wheaton College, Lycoming College, outdoors in public spaces, and at my grandmothers’ homes.

The embroidered squares become part of the collection, which is has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Beard and Weil Galleries at Wheaton College, and Lycoming College, among others. This project was inspired by my Appalachian family history and the tradition of quilting circles.
